RE: College football - week 7

GM, I cracked up listening to a local radio espn announcer, when he signed off from his program. He reminded Sooners fans to stop at the dip station at our border.:B:B Go Horns. Actually, the Sooners get dipped to inoculate themselves from Hoof and Mouth disease, which I'm told is quite prevalent south of the Red River. ;-) And I know where Terrell, Texas is. Also know where Terrall, Oklahoma is. GM

RE: College football - week 6

MCDDY Go back and read my post. I believe I said that both the Big Twelve and the SEC teams will knock each other off. GM

RE: College football - week 6

Of the top five teams in the nation, three are from the Big 12, the other two are from the SEC. Only problem is, they will knock each other off as the season progresses. For instance, Nr.1 Oklahoma vs Nr. 5 Texas next week. And both of those teams will eventually play Nr. 3 Missouri. Don't know the SEC schedule, but I'm sure the similar match ups will occur. Howsabout the Oklahoma Sooners vs the LSU Tigers for all the marbles?? GM

RE: American flag salute question.

I used the military hand salute before legislation that authorized me to do so. With 30 years of service, I think I am justified. My thanks to all of you who have served, whether it was for a couple of years or for a career. GM

RE: I need to be put out to pasture-now have type 2 diabetes!

I was diagnosed as Type II diabetic in 1999. I have never been on medication and the blood sugar levels are OK. Sensible diet and a bit of exercise are the key. Doc said at the last visit I need to watch the weight, since it's creeping up a bit. Went from 205 to 175, now back up to about 188, but the diabetes is under control. GM

RE: Don't anger the Paperboy

I was a paper boy for our local newspaper back in the 50s. In the '60s, Johnny Bench was also the paper boy for the same newspaper in his hometown of Binger, Oklahoma. At one point, Bench told the circulation manager, Mr. Leon Roden, that he was going to give up his paper route so he could concentrate on baseball. Mr. Roden (now deceased) told Bench, "Bench, you'll never amount to anything!" Of course, Bench went on to become a Hall of Fame catcher for the Cincinatti Reds. Over the years, Bench returned (and still does) to Binger for various functions. Until Mr. Roden's death, Bench always invited him to those functions and gently reminded him of that comment. GM

We were there a few years back for one of Bearnkat's rallies. I echo his statement - great park! GM

Kansas Turnpike/Towanda Service Center

Leaving Sunday to the Towanda Service Center on I35/Kansas Turnpike. My wife's niece from Omaha will meet us there, and my wife will return to Omaha with her. I will turn around and head back to SW Oklahoma. Can I turn around and head back south at the service center, or do I have to find an exit, get off, then back on? If so, what exit would it be? GM

RE: Trailer Life CD

I got the 2006 version, then the 2007. Both are excellent. Not only are they good for route planning and finding an RV park, they are excellent for finding other addresses. You can zoom in and find just about anything. For me, they are much easier to use than the paper directories. GM

RE: Monument Valley to St. Louis, best route?

You won't be on I-40 in E. Oklahoma, you will be on I-44 from Ok. City through Tulsa all the way to St. Louis. Made that trip in reverse a couple of weeks ago. Two weeks before that, I took I-40 east from Ok. City into Arkansas - no problems. If you take I-44, it is a toll road all the way from Ok. City to Joplin. GM

RE: How much caffeine is in your drink?

I limit myself to three cups of coffee per day, maybe four occasionally. I had a potter friend make me a cup that holds one gallon of coffee. So I'm within limits. GM

RE: trip planning freedom

Except for destination campgrounds, we never make reservations. We plan on traveling about 300 miles a day, and will pick a CG somewhere down the road where we think we'll be, then call them the morning of the day we intend to be there. I've yet to find a full CG and had to make a second call. We've travelled every state west of the Mississipi, and mostly in the summer during high traffic times. We use the Trailer Life CD which gives us a graphic of the CGs along our route. GM

RE: I-70, Denver to Baltimore

Drove from Baltmore to St. Louis couple of weeks ago. Encountered no major problems. Picked up I-44 in St. Loui, so I have no knowledge about I-70 west of St Louis. We took I-68/I-79 for part of the trip, thus avoiding a turnpike fee on I-70 in PA. Color should be awesome about now. GM

RE: Running External Generator While Traveling: OK or Not OK?

I built a platform to fit the trailer hitch on the back of a Class C and put an external generator there. Wiring was secured under the MH. Worked for me. Never tried to use it during inclement weather. GM
